Well, that was a real poke in the eye. Literally.

The Minnesota Vikings lost 24-21 to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday morning in the first NFL regular season game played in Dublin, Ireland.

And among the long list of injuries suffered by the Vikings, quarterback Carson Wentz took a finger in the left eye late in the first half.

The former North Dakota State star stayed in the game and played fine, but the poke did affect his play. Minnesota head coach Kevin O’Connell offered after the game that Wentz’s vision was affected enough to factor into the quarterback missing tight end T.J. Hockenson with a pass on a crucial play as the clock wound down in the second quarter. Instead of being in position to make a first down, the Vikings settled for a field goal and a 14-6 halftime deficit.
