A small plane crash at David Wayne Hooks Memorial Airport in Spring sparked fires Sunday afternoon, with emergency crews actively responding to the scene. Authorities are still working to confirm details on any potential injuries.
The crash happened around 12:13 p.m. on the south end of the runway, in the 20800 block of Stuebner Airline Road. The impact sparked brushfires in the area, including near industrial buildings and a tree farm, where fire crews remain on scene battling flames.
Sheriff Ed Gonzalez posted on X that two people are believed to be deceased. KPRC 2 is working to verify that information.
Klein Fire Department said the downed plane was a Cessna 340 that became “fully involved” in flames after going down about a half-mile south of the airport.
