MICCOSUKEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Leon County leaders hosted a community celebration this weekend at the newly renovated Miccosukee Community Center.

The center was created inside the historic Concord School Building on Moccasin Gap Road in Miccosukee. Leon County Commissioner Bill Proctor attended the ceremony.

“The Concord School began as an African-American school,” he said. “Its history, its meaning to this community, to the people here, is significant. It is a family member to them.”

The ribbon-cutting for the center was held in June , and Proctor said Saturday’s celebration is a way to bring the community together, while acknowledging the transformation of the center.
