A shooting claimed the life of a woman Friday night in Montgomery, police said.

Lt. Ernestina McGriff, a spokesperson for the Montgomery Police Department, said that on Sept. 26 at 6:51 p.m. MPD responded to a call about a person shot in the 500 block of Stone Street, which is about six minutes from downtown Montgomery.

On the scene, McGriff said that officers came into contact with an adult female who sustained a fatal gunshot wound. The woman was pronounced dead on the scene, McGriff said. Police have not released the woman's name.

McGriff said that there is no other information available on the case as the investigation continues.
