MONROE, La. (KNOE) - From archery and bird watching to shooting ranges and wildlife shows, families enjoyed a full day of free outdoor fun Saturday at Black Bayou Lake.

The event marked the return of National Hunting and Fishing Day , designed to connect Louisiana families — especially children and beginners — with the state’s rich outdoor traditions and conservation efforts.

“[We want to] introduce kids, specifically the youth or novice outdoor enthusiasts, to the outdoors — whether it’s hunting or fishing,” said one organizer. “Maybe they’ve never been before, and this is the only opportunity they’ll get to experience those activities.”
