FOXBOROUGH — North Carolina native D rake Maye scored a second-quarter touchdown against his hometown team on Sunday afternoon.

Maye grew up a big Carolina Panthers fan — he attended their Super Bowl 50 loss in 2015 — and found the end zone on a first half bootleg. Rolling to his left, Maye called his own number and scrambled for a five-yard touchdown.

After scoring, Maye did Cam Newton’s trademark Superman celebration. Earlier in the week, he said the 2015 season was his greatest Panthers memory and Newton was a personal favorite of his.

“I think they were 15-1,” Maye said. “I was at that NFC Championship game at home, big time win. Just being a fan of Cam was probably the biggest memory, him coming out here, doing the airplane and hitting ‘The Cam.’
