Well folks, we are looking at a beautiful stretch of weather here across Southern Illinois and the surrounding Mid-Mississippi River Valley. We're currently under the influence of a strong high-pressure system, both at the surface and aloft, which is setting us up for a fantastic forecast through at least early next week.
For much of the week, expect plenty of sunshine and light winds, generally out of the north and northeast. Temperatures will be pleasant, with highs expected to be in the mid to upper 80s. Overnight, lows will fall into the comfortable 50s to near 60 degrees. We might see a touch of patchy morning fog again, especially near the Mississippi River and up towards Mt. Vernon, Illinois, but this should burn off quickly with the sunshine.
