**TUI Flight Diverted After Bird Strike Emergency** A TUI flight from the UK to Cyprus was diverted due to an emergency declared onboard after a bird strike incident. The Boeing 737, designated flight TOM 6754, was en route to Paphos when the event occurred shortly after take-off from Cardiff at 4.30pm on Sunday. The aircraft was rerouted to Birmingham Airport, where operations were temporarily suspended to accommodate emergency services. Upon arrival, the plane circled Swansea Bay at an altitude of approximately 3,000 feet before climbing to 12,000 feet and heading towards the West Midlands, landing safely at 5.30pm. Passengers and crew were safely disembarked after the aircraft burned fuel while circling. Four fire appliances and additional emergency vehicles were on standby as the plane touched down. A TUI spokesperson confirmed that the incident was caused by birds near Cardiff Airport during take-off. They stated, "To confirm, there was no engine failure. There was a bird strike after take-off and the diversion that followed was a precautionary routine procedure." Cardiff Airport also acknowledged the incident, emphasising that passenger safety is their top priority. A spokesperson remarked, "We are aware of an incident involving flight TOM6754 from Cardiff to Paphos. The aircraft diverted to Birmingham Airport (BHX) and landed safely at approximately 17:30." This incident follows a previous disruption at Birmingham Airport last month, when all flights were halted for several hours due to an emergency involving a light aircraft on the runway, which resulted in one person sustaining minor injuries. On that occasion, Birmingham Airport's official Twitter account announced the runway closure at 2.48pm, with security and check-in operations ceasing two hours later. West Midlands Police reported that they were present at the airport following the emergency landing of the small aircraft around 1.40pm.
