The final hours of Lancashire teenager Jay Slater have been explored in a new Channel 4 documentary more than a year after his disappearance and death in Tenerife.
The 19-year-old apprentice bricklayer, from Oswaldtwistle, went missing on June 17 last year. A month-long search ended in tragedy when police reported the discovery of human remains on July 15, close to the last known location of his mobile phone.
A coroner later ruled that Jay's death was caused by fatal head injuries sustained in a fall of around 20 to 25 metres.
"There was no third party involved. Jay Dean Slater died an accidental death," coroner Dr James Adeley told an inquest on July 25.
