The Ontario Liberal Party is taking the first steps toward selecting its next party leader to replace Bonnie Crombie, who resigned earlier this month.
The party's executive council has approved the creation of a committee to "consult with members, research best practices and provide recommendations" on how to approach the upcoming contest, said a news release from the party Sunday.
"We are continuing the important work of rebuilding and renewing our movement," said Kathryn McGarry, president of Ontario Liberal Party, in the release.
"We want every member to help shape the path forward as we prepare to choose our next Leader."
