Grand Blanc Township — Some nurses from a Genesee County hospital that is caring for multiple victims of a mass shooting in Grand Blanc Township on Sunday said they were turned away from helping because of a labor dispute.
Dan Glass, president of Teamsters Local 332, which represents roughly 750 nurses and case workers at the hospital on strike, said at least six striking nurses were turned away by hospital administrators at Henry Ford Genesys after they asked if they were needed to help with shooting victims.
"We're in a labor dispute, but human lives mean more than anything at this point, right?" Glass said Sunday.
A spokesperson for Henry Ford Genesys Hospital said the hospital was fully staffed but appreciated the union members' willingness to help.
