BMW has issued a safety recall for some of its most popular models due to electrical issues that could cause a fire.

Around 196,355 vehicles are affected by the recall, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration .

Documents filed with the highway safety agency stated that the recall was caused because the starter relay could corrode and cause a short circuit, which can increase the risk of fire.

Affected makes and models include:

2019-2022 Z4

2019-2021 330I

2020-2022 X3

2020-2022 X4

2020-2022 530I

2021-2022 430I

2022 230I

2021-2022 430I Convertible

Additionally, approximately 1,460 Toyota Supra sports cars built between 2020 and 2022 are part of the recall, as these vehicles were made with starters from BWM.
