DUBLIN — Steelers running back Kenneth Gainwell made quick cuts all day against the Vikings in an unexpected feature role, but he also had a quick wit about a cut postgame.

Gainwell, with a bloody left ear Sunday after rushing for 99 yards on an NFL career-high 19 carries, was asked if he’s OK following that heavy workload.

“Ask Mike Tyson,” Gainwell said with a smile.

Good vibes for Gainwell, who scored two touchdowns and also had six catches for 35 yards. He didn’t know until 90 minutes before the game that he’d be the workhorse back, a result of Jaylen Warren sitting out with a right knee injury.

Warren tested it out in warmups well before kickoff while chatting with Steelers trainers. Gainwell got the call and he delivered in just his fifth NFL start in five seasons, also returning
