ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- According to the Elmira Police Department, one woman was injured after an assault happened early Sunday morning on Lormore Street.

Around 1:39 a.m. on September 28, officers responded to a report of a large disturbance involving roughly 20 people near Lormore Street and Maple Avenue. When they arrived, police say they found a woman who had suffered a non-life-threatening cut to her hand.

The Elmira Fire Department and Erway Ambulance also responded, and the victim was transported to Robert Packer Hospital for further treatment.

Investigators say the assault happened in the 300 block of Lormore Street and remains under investigation.
