CUSTER COUNTY, Idaho — The U.S. Forest Service reported a new wildfire on Sunday, emphasizing that firefighter and public safety remain the top priority.

The Scratch Fire is located approximately two miles northwest of Pinyon Peak Lookout and is estimated at 20 acres, according to forest service officials. The blaze is exhibiting extreme fire behavior as it burns through lodgepole pine.

A helicopter has been deployed to the scene to assist with suppression efforts.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
