Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani broke his own franchise home run record with a solo blast on Sunday in Seattle, hitting his 55th home run of the season.

The home run came in the seventh inning on Sunday, the final day of the regular season, off left-hander Gabe Speier.

That’s a pretty good way to begin with a new team, breaking the Dodgers record with 54 home runs in his first season, and now 55 home runs in his second season. He won his third MVP award last November, unanimously, and will be the favorite to win another National League MVP this season.

Ohtani on Friday also stole his 20th base of the season, just the sixth season in major league history with 50 home runs and 20 stolen bases. He’s the only player with two such seasons.
