CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The Cleveland Guardians won the AL Central division title Sunday and will host Detroit in round 1 of the MLB playoffs.
Detroit’s loss in Boston clinched the division for Cleveland.
This is Cleveland’s 2nd straight playoff trip under manager Stephen Vogt. The Guardians erased a 15 1/2 game Detroit lead to steal the division crown, the biggest comeback in modern baseball history.
It’s also Cleveland’s 13th division title.
Cy Young award winner Tarik Skubal will start game 1 for Detroit against Cleveland’s Gavin Williams. The opener will be at either 1 p.m. or 6 p.m. on ESPN.
