The pieces are finally in place for the Red Sox’s first playoff series since 2021.

Boston will visit the Yankees for a best-of-three Wild Card Series with Game 1 scheduled for Tuesday in New York. Each game of the series will be played at Yankee Stadium, meaning Fenway Park isn’t guaranteed to host a playoff game in October.

“It’s New York against Boston,” Red Sox manager Alex Cora told reporters Sunday evening. “It’s gonna be big.”

The matchup became official on Sunday after the Red Sox earned a 4-3 win over the Tigers to clinch the second wild-card seed, and the Blue Jays beat the Tampa Bay Rays to clinch the American League East title.
