The San Francisco 49ers are dealing with several injuries to their receiver room. The latest is to second-year wide-out Ricky Pearsall.
Pearsall suffered a knee injury in the third quarter of the 49ers' Week 4 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. It occurred as he tried to make a catch on the sideline and landed hard on the ground while trying to get his feet down.
Pearsall briefly remained down after the play before he got up and slowly walked to the 49ers sideline. He was examined in the blue medical tent before the team deemed him "questionable" to return because of the injury.
It isn't clear whether the knee injury was separate from or related to the knee malady that limited Pearsall in practice ahead of the team's Week 4 game. The 25-year-old receiver was a non-participant in Wednesday's practice before logging limited sessions Thursday and Friday to help him get on the field.
Pearsall wasn't the only 49ers receiver to get banged up against the Jaguars. Jauan Jennings was sandwiched while catching a 2-point conversion and was examined for rib injury.
Jennings was able to return to the game. Pearsall, thus far, has not been able to.
49ers WR depth chart
The 49ers dressed five receivers for Sunday's game. Below is a look at the pecking order within the room:
- Ricky Pearsall
- Jauan Jennings
- Kendrick Bourne
- Demarcus Robinson
- Skyy Moore
If Pearsall can't return, Kendrick Bourne figures to see increased action across from Jennings for the remainder of the game.
