Before Linda Brossi Murphy died of complications from ALS, she composed a poignant final work: her own obituary.

The Massachusetts native penned an equal parts witty and touching tribute to her life , looking back at some of the most meaningful moments she shared with loved ones and her experience battling ALS. ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis , is a neurodegenerative condition that targets nerve cells and affects muscle control.

“Well, if you are reading this obituary, it looks like I’m dead. WOW, it actually happened ... I died of FOMO due to complications of Bulbar ALS,” Murphy said.
