WASHINGTON, D.C. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The U.S. Department of Agriculture has issued a health alert for certain ready-to-eat pasta meals that may be contaminated with listeria.

The alert involves Walmart’s Marketside Linguine with Beef Meatballs and Marinara Sauce, along with Trader Joe’s Cajun Style Blackened Chicken Breast Fettuccine Alfredo.

The products have “best if used by” dates for late September or early October.

Officials warn that listeria can cause serious illness, especially among high-risk groups like older adults and pregnant women.

Consumers who have either product are advised to throw it out or return it to the store.
