Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth moved Sunday to mobilize 200 members of the Oregon National Guard into federal service in the city of Portland for 60 days.

The state, in turn , filed a lawsuit to block the Trump administration from deploying the National Guard to Portland or anywhere in the state.

The developments come a day after President Donald Trump authorized federal troops to protect what he dubbed “War ravaged Portland.”

Meanwhile, people gathered along Portland’s downtown waterfront and at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement office in South Portland to decry the deployment.
