CLEVELAND, Ohio — Stephen Vogt and the Guardians had already clinched an impossible comeback to claim the American League Central Division title on Sunday by the time they headed to the bottom of the 10th inning against Texas at Progressive Field.
Walking off the Rangers on a Brayan Rocchio three-run blast off the foul pole in right was just the icing on the championship cake.
Vogt led Cleveland back from a 15 1/2 game deficit in the division and ended up with the 13th AL Central title in franchise history.
After the game, the favorite for a second-straight AL Manager of the Year award talked to reporters about the pride he feels in managing the Guardians and how Sunday’s win was emblematic of their entire season.
