A California energy company is proposing a solar power array with battery storage along N.M. 41 in southern Santa Fe County — a development more than three times the size of the Rancho Viejo Solar project that continues to stir controversy.

San Francisco-based Linea Energy plans the Globemallow project in a rural area just north of scarcely populated Stanley — about 40 miles from Santa Fe. The development aims to produce about 349 megawatts on some 2,000 acres of agricultural and ranch land, making it one of the largest such projects in the state.

"The needs for this project are outlined by New Mexico's renewable energy goals and the growing energy demand around the United States," said Andrew Davidson, a project manager for Linea Energy.
