Mice 'scarper' from gardens and homes when you put out one natural item they 'hate'

As temperatures drop from summer into autumn and evenings become chillier, we naturally begin spending increased time indoors during the year's final months.

This pattern is mirrored by various creatures that scamper into our gardens and frequently, into our properties. Mice are a familiar presence across the UK, commonly spotted darting into gardens, sheds, garages, greenhouses and within our homes, particularly after dark.

Whether they're dormice or field mice, these rodents don't enter hibernation, meaning they remain active pests year-round. According to APC Management, roughly 5.4 million house mice inhabit the UK, with numbers swelling during late summer and early autumn periods.

The British Pest Control Association has documented approximately 80,000 mouse-related callouts annual
