BOSTON -- For the second year in a row, fans will need to sneak away from work or school to catch the Detroit Tigers in the Wild Card Series.
With a made-for-TV matchup of big-market rivals (the Red Sox and Yankees) in the other Wild Card game, the Tigers and Cleveland Guardians were destined to be relegated to a lesser time slot.
Sure enough, when the schedules came out, the Tigers were assigned the early-afternoon game.
The series at Progressive Field will open with 1:08 p.m. first pitches on Tuesday and Wednesday on ESPN.
Game 3 on Thursday, if necessary, is tentatively scheduled for 1:08 p.m., but it could be moved to a later start.
If one or more series ends early, the Tigers-Guardians finale will move to 3:08 p.m. on ABC.
If the Tigers-Guardians are the only series still playin
