An 8-year-old boy from West Warwick, Rhode Island , is busy with third grade these days, but over the summer, he was busy running -- one mile a day, every day, for 50 days...for a really great cause.

Ryan Mulvaney, a student at St. Joseph's School, says it was towards the end of second grade when he was inspired by a YouTuber who went to 50 states in 50 days, NBC10 Boston affiliate WJAR reports.

Ryan decided he wanted to run 50 miles in 50 days for the Make-A-Wish Foundation , which grants life-changing wishes to children with critical illnesses.

“It just was like a motivator," Mulvaney told WJAR. "I was like, 'I’m going to do this every single day.'"
