ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - On Sunday, a group of around 50 young boys from all across Atlanta spent the day with mentors from the group ‘1 Mo Question’ fishing in a pond in South Fulton.
“I learned how to keep the worm on the hook even if I don’t catch it,” said mentee Cayleb Briscoe.
It’s all geared to provide father figures to at-risk youth across the metro.
“Feeling heard and seen and getting undivided attention they may not get at any other time,” said founder Dr. Travis Barber. Barber says these interactions often help the mentors as well as the mentees.
“For us not having a father, being able to be a father figure to another young man. That’s the healing for us,” said Barber.
