Kim Beattie has only attended one Major League Baseball game. She chose well.
“It was my first game ever and it was a pretty exciting one to be at,” Beattie said Sunday, amid cheers and scenes of jubilation taking over the streets around the Rogers Centre after waves of Toronto Blue Jays fans celebrated the team’s division-clinching 13-4 win over the Tampa Bay Rays.
Beattie, who travelled from Dinsmore, Sask. to watch her inaugural game, said it was worth the trip and a moment she will savour, adding that one of the highlights of the game was when Alejandro Kirk’s grand slam. “That got the whole crowd going.”
Jays fans, Matt Tindugan and his wife among them, revelled in the finale granting the team its first American League East title in a decade.
