Karl Behrens’ shot on the ninth hole Sunday at Pine Valley Country Club made it to the back fringe of the green, creating a tough downhill shot that could either give him a big birdie or create tough sledding for a par.
Behrens had a few things going for him. Behrens has been a member of Pine Valley for over 20 years and was in good company with two-time Senior City champion David Dumas and Ron Schmucker.
“I had a great pairing with two of my friends, so we got off to a good start,” Behrens said. “Dave and I are business partners and good friends, so we both got to making some birdies early.”
He made his downhill putt for his third birdie of the afternoon and first of three straight. Behrens, in his sixth appearance in the tournament, is the overall leader of the FWGA Senior City Champi
