COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina agencies are working around the clock to prepare for the potential of severe weather this week, with crews focusing on drains and flood-prone areas across the state.
The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) states that a key part of storm preparation involves targeting flood-prone areas and making sure that ditches and culverts are clear.

“When we know that we're going to possibly see some heavy rain events, where we're getting a lot of rain accumulation in a short amount of time, we're going to go to those areas first and clear ditching out,” Hannah Robinson with SCDOT said.
