(WPRI) — The manager of a popular Providence restaurant who was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for more than three months is back home and sharing his story.

Paul Dama, who was a journalist in his home country of Nigeria, came to the U.S. years ago after he was kidnapped by extremists from the group Boko Haram and told he had to leave the country.

He's now the manager of Suya Joint, his sister's popular restaurant, which serves up African cuisine in Boston and Providence.

Back in June, Dama says, he was on his way to church when he was stopped by ICE officers in Brockton, Massachusetts, and detained in New Hampshire at the Strafford County Department of Corrections. An immigration judge granted him asylum last week, and Dama reunited with his family on Thursd
