Communications Minister Anika Wells has been accused of being “missing in action” over triple zero outages caused by disruptions to telecommunications provider Optus.
Optus has suffered two network outages impacting triple zero calls in less than a fortnight, with one of the disruptions linked to at least four deaths of people who could not get timely aid.
Ms Wells has yet to publicly comment on the outages as of midday on Monday, after being overseas for the initial triple zero outage.
Shadow communications minister Melissa McIntosh criticised Ms Well’s response on Monday, warning that urgent action was needed.
