KANSAS CITY, Kan. — A four-tire call for Chase Elliott allowed the Hendrick Motorsports driver to bolt through the field on the final lap to beat Denny Hamlin in the NASCAR Cup Series race at Kansas Speedway.

Elliott started outside the top five on the final restart, but pushed through as Hamlin battled Bubba Wallace for the lead on the final lap. Hamlin shoved Wallace into the wall on the final turn, allowing Elliott to close in and get around for the win.

"Everything worked out perfect for me," Elliott said. "The seas kind of parted and I kept my momentum up... We had pretty good tires compared to those guys."

Hamlin led a race-high 159 laps but suffered power steering issues and a slow pit stop under a late caution, leaving him out of the lead in the closing laps. He rebounded to f
