The young woman behind the wheel of a car that plunged into an irrigation channel, killing her passenger, has fronted court for the first time.
Shereice Adele Marie Rumble, 20, appeared in the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court on Monday, charged with causing death by dangerous driving following the crash that claimed the life of Kiara Alice Allen (McKelliff) .
Allen, 21, was just months away from completing her Certificate IV in veterinary nursing when the silver Holden Commodore she was travelling in veered off Pump Rd at Mobilong on August 19.
The vehicle flipped and sank upside down in the water.
Allen died at the scene.
The Murray Bridge community rallied around Allen’s grieving family, launching a fundraiser to honour her memory.
