KINGSFORD — Despite taking a 15-14 lead on a 17-yard touchdown strike from Tyler Halonen to Trent Anderson in the fourth quarter, the Calumet Copper Kings could not hold off a late field goal that gave the Kingsford Flivvers the win, 17-15, Friday night in Kingsford.
With the Copper Kings trailing 14-7, Anderson hit Halonen for the strike. Ben Anderson followed the play up with a two-point conversion run to put the Copper Kings ahead.
Halonen also had the Copper Kings’ first score of the game in the third quarter when he converted on a 17-yard run. Ben Anderson made the extra-point kick on that play.
The two teams battled to a 0-0 score after the first quarter before the Flivvers took a 7-0 lead into half time with a second quarter score from three yards out.
