It’s Sunday night in the city and eight women are standing on the stage of Manchester Academy all in matching Puritan-style bonnets and dresses. They glitch and spasm in front of the 5,000-strong crowd, who are left wondering if this evening may end up with them being indoctrinated into a cult.
