A Queensland coroner has been tasked with trying to determine what caused a house fire which claimed the life of a young boy and seriously injured his brother, including whether either of their parents were involved.
In 2017 two boys and their father, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, were badly burnt when their rural property went up in flames.
The trio, who escaped the fire, were flown to hospital for urgent treatment, but the older of the two boys died the following day.
During a preliminary conference held in Brisbane on Monday, Counsel assisting Coroner Kate Juhasz told the court before he died the child was an "active little boy".
"Who loved riding his bike, being outside, and playing with his little brother," she said.
