Pune: The long-awaited Metro extension from Shivajinagar to Kondhwa, with a proposed spur to NIBM, is a step closer to reality as MahaMetro confirmed that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be ready within the next three months once an agency is appointed.
The 20-km corridor is expected to bring a major boost to public transport in Kondhwa, NIBM, and Yewalewadi — areas witnessing rapid urban growth but facing severe traffic congestion. The line will be an extension of the Hinjewadi–Shivajinagar Metro (PMR-3), currently under construction by Tata under the public-private partnership (PPP) model.
