Constable Tombs was one of eight officers whose names were added to the Wall of Remembrance on Police Remembrance Day.

Constable Tombs, who came from England and had no family in Australia, died on November 25,1897.

He had become a police officer in April 1894 and was stationed at Moruya since January 1895.
