Flag football season is just around the corner here in the Augusta area. This sport has exploded in popularity since it was first made an official high school sport back in 2020 by the Georgia High School Association.

Since then, we’ve seen a powerhouse develop in Greenbrier, which has won back-to-back state titles. Their latest victory was an 18-0 defeat over North Oconee at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Other teams like Evans, Grovetown and Lakeside, among others, have helped bring flag football to the mainstream here in the Augusta area.
