Chandigarh, September 29, 2025 – The Punjab Vidhan Sabha has unanimously passed a resolution strongly condemning the Centre’s announcement of ₹1,600 crore as financial relief to the state, terming it a mere “token amount” against the state government’s demand of at least ₹20,000 crore to deal with the flood devastation.

The resolution, moved by Water Resources Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal on Friday, was discussed in the House for two days before being adopted. It noted that despite the Prime Minister’s announcement, no funds have yet been deposited into Punjab’s account and demanded that the relief amount be released at the earliest.Urging the Union Finance Ministry to reconsider its decision, Goyal said the package announced was grossly inadequate.
