Automotive experts have cautioned drivers about a common error when refuelling their petrol and diesel vehicles at filling stations. Motor specialists from McArthur Industries have advised motorists against continuing to squeeze the fuel pump trigger once their car has reached capacity.

Once a fuel tank reaches full capacity , drivers will notice a distinctive click sound when attempting to depress the nozzle further. Many motorists mistakenly believe that maintaining pressure on the pump will continue filling the tank and provide additional range.

Nevertheless, experts have cautioned that this practice could prove more detrimental than beneficial, potentially causing damage to vehicles.
