The Madurai bench of Madras High Court will hear a plea moved by Tamilaga Vettri Vazhagam (TVK) and its leader Vijay over the tragic stampede in Karur. The newly launched political party has sought a probe by a central agency or an independent probe into the incident.

A group of lawyers led by the party's advocates' wing president, S. Arivazhagan, went to the residence of Justice M. Dhandapani and urged him to consider the party's plea urgently. Though on puja holidays, the High Court will take up the plea on Monday.
