Ten months ago, the Cincinnati Bengals and Denver Broncos met in a Saturday afternoon game with massive implications on the AFC playoff race.
Nearly a full year later, they'll get a rematch of their overtime matchup in their first prime-time game of the season.
Denver (1-2) dropped another close game in Week 3 to AFC West foe Los Angeles. The Broncos' ferocious pass rush got to Chargers' quarterback Justin Herbert often, tallying 15 quarterback hits and five sacks, but Los Angeles scored the final 10 points of the game to hand the visiting Broncos a 23-20 loss. Denver's lost its last two games in the final seconds by a combined four points.
The Broncos' defense was one of the best in the league last season and they remain stout this year so far, especially against the run. Denver ranks sixth in expected points added (EPA) per rush, per SumerSports. The offense isn't performing as well as last year so far and rank 17th in the league in points per game (compared to 10th in 2024).
Cincinnati lost its first matchup of the season in dramatic fashion on the road in Week 3. The Bengals' first full game without franchise quarterback Joe Burrow was a 48-10 blowout loss to the Minnesota Vikings. The offense turned the ball over five times – leading to two defensive touchdowns for Minnesota – and gave up four sacks.
The Bengals will be without Burrow for at least a couple of months as he recovers from foot surgery. They'll have to hold on against tough competition, including another great defense in the Broncos' unit in Week 4.
