The Municipality of Two Borders has tendered out the deconstruction of a prairie sentinel that stands over the community of Lyleton, but this is in the name of safety.

The Manitoba Pool Elevator was built in 1928 on the edge of town and has served that community for over 90 years. The elevator was built 97 years ago but has stood empty for a few years now.

The wooden elevator was built on the CPR Lyleton Subdivision in 1928. In 1952 a temporary annex was added, and then in 1967 that was replaced by a new crib annex that increased the elevator's total capacity to 128,000 bushels.

The swollen Souris River in spring of 1976 washed out a railway bridge between Lyleton and Waskada, which prompted the CPR to abandon the line to Lyleton as they did not want to replace the bridge. Consequently,
