Sean Longstaff has told his Leeds United teammates to start believing in themselves more, insisting that the squad “needs to realise" they belong at the top level if they are to remain there.
With 177 Premier League appearances under his belt, Longstaff is the most experienced top-flight midfielder within Daniel Farke’s ranks. He walked away from Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth as the man of the match after recording his first goal for the club.
The 27-year-old had not long recorded his maiden Leeds assist prior to his 54th-minute “slice” strike , when delivering the corner for Joe Rodon’s first-half equaliser. The Cherries had gone ahead on 26 minutes through Antoine Semenyo’s low free-kick, which prompted a jittery period from the hosts.
