Manisha Verma, a 1995-batch Indian Information Service (IIS) officer, has taken charge as the new Press Secretary to President Droupadi Murmu. She succeeds Ajay Singh, whose term ended on September 26. Verma joined her new position on Friday, officials said.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi , approved the appointment on September 25. With Verma’s appointment, the position of Press Secretary to the President of India has returned to the IIS cadre after a decade. As per the order, her term is co-terminus with that of President Murmu, or until further orders.
