SEABROOK, Texas (CW39) – A 19-year-old driver is alive thanks to the quick actions of a couple who helped first responders pull the teen from the water in Seabrook.

Firefighters said the teen’s car drove off the road at Shipyard Marina Friday night. John and Kristy Owens told officials they heard a splash followed by a woman yelling to call 911.

The woman jumped in to help, while the Owenses rushed to their small boat and used it to pin the sinking vehicle in shallow water until firefighters arrived.

First responders then pulled the teen safely from the car. Authorities say the teen is expected to recover.
