MEMPHIS, Tenn. - With the surge of federal law enforcement moving into Memphis starting Monday, local congregations are maintaining their footprint in communities.

Many Memphis churches have expanded youth and feeding programs to meet the needs of people across the city.

Since the announcement of the National Guard coming to Memphis, those prayers have also come with plans to do more to help people who are in need.

President of the Black Clergy Collaborative, the Rev. Jason Lawrence Turner, said he sees the positives and negatives of the deployment. "I think it's important for us to give us words of reassurance to our congregations because, for one, this will not last always," Turner said.

One positive he pointed to was outreach to communities in the most need.
